One of the world's most popular games, field hockey is also one of the world's oldest competitive team sports. There is evidence of the game being played with a ball and stick 4,000 years ago in Egypt. The modern game of field hockey evolved in England during the 19th century and led to the creation of the sport's international federation. Summer field hockey camps provide players the confidence and efficiency to develop finer tuned talents and test out new skills during season. In North America field hockey is regarded as a girls' and women's sport, as many schools and universities field teams. However, there are many men's and mixed leagues, especially in Canada. In Argentina, despite the strength of the men's national side, it is considered a women's sport.
