Coach Gallagher begins with tips from his storied career that cover communication and family involvement. The goals of Coach Wootten's teams were to play hard, play smart, play together and have fun. Perseverance allows teams to stay in the game as the opponent finds a way to lose. Team unity is based on the chemistry you produce on your team because the five best players rarely make up the best team. Defense is a priority for winning basketball. Having a defensive plan, according to Wootten, is mandatory for the coach. This includes handling pressure with set plays to isolate your best scorer.
