About the Author: Bob Bennett is the former head baseball coach at Fresno State University. In the position for 34 seasons (1970-2002, plus a year as FSU’s interim head coach in 1967), Bennett led his Fresno State teams to extraordinary success—winning or sharing 17 conference titles, earning 1302 victories (an average of 40 wins per season), and making two trips to the College World Series. For his achievements, Bennett was honored several times, including being named Conference Coach of the Year 13 times and NCAA Coach of the Year in 1988. A member of the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Bennett is widely respected as one of the most knowledgeable coaches in the history of the game.
