Mauer has since solidified his status as the premier catcher of the American League, appearing in three All-Star games and winning three silver slugger awards. Mauer has also been recognized for his defensive superiority, winning gold gloves in 2008 and 2009. Mauer’s greatest achievement came in 2009, when he earned American League Most Valuable Player honors batting .365 with 28 home 96 runs batted in.
