with Marty Stern, legendary Villanova Track and Cross Country Coach, 5X NCAA Team Championships, 6X NCAA "National Coach of the Year," Coached 145 All-Americans.
Whether it is off-season, pre-season, or in the competitive phase of the season, Marty Stern centers his Cross Country training philosophy on keeping runners healthy! Coach Stern discusses pre-season strategies, beginning in early July with a gradual progression of both mileage and frequency and then discusses the Early Season Phase where he introduces his "patented" weekly training plan that centers on a high stress/high quality Tuesday workout. He provides six specific Tuesday workout prescriptions that produce the desired results of hard quality running. For the other days of the week, Stern offers general concepts as well as specific workout suggestions, including tips and ideas for maintaining a healthy team. In addition, he offers strategies for positive pack running, an essential element of a successful Cross Country team. A valuable segment in this DVD, titled "Growing Your Team," offers strategies for recruitment and retention of athletes. In the final segments, Stern goes onto the course to demonstrate pre-meet and post-meet drills and rituals as well as a demonstration of strategies for hill running. An excellent resource for Cross Country!
